Gurdeep Loyal's Guest Toastie at neighbourhood bars, The Drop and Two Drops
The Drop and Two Drops, the neighbourhood bars known for their top-tier toasties, wine and Guinness, are thrilled to welcome their next guest toastie: the ‘Korean Tuna & Pickled Ginger Melt’ by award-winning author, columnist and flavour aficionado Gurdeep Loyal.
Running from Tuesday 3rd June to Tuesday 5th August, this boldly flavoured, umami-rich, chilli-cheesy toastie is straight from the pages of Gurdeep’s hotly anticipated new cookbook, ‘Flavour Heroes’ (published on 19th June 2025, Quadrille).
The toastie is his playful reimagining of the classic tuna melt, amped up with gochujang (one of Gurdeep’s 15 ‘flavour heroes’), spring onion, pickled ginger and crunchy radish, grilled until golden and oozing with melted cheese. A taste sensation built for deep comfort and thrillingly tasty enjoyment.

‘Flavour Heroes’ is Gurdeep’s joyful guide to transforming everyday cooking using 15 modern pantry staples – like miso, mango chutney and dark roasted peanut butter. His confident, cross-cultural cooking style has made him a regular on Saturday Kitchen, a columnist for Olive Magazine, and a much-adored figure within the UK food scene.
This toastie is the latest in an ongoing guest series at The Drop in Coal Drops Yard and Two Drops in Battersea Power Station, part of Harts Group, the team behind Barrafina, Quo Vadis, El Pastor and more. Both bars are known for pairing great drinks with proper toasties, served all day in a warm, casual setting.
Gurdeep Loyal’s Korean Tuna & Pickled Ginger Melt will be available from Tuesday 3rd June to Tuesday 5th August at both venues, priced at £15.50.
