Cinco de Mayo, celebrated by Mexicans around the world on May 5th, commemorates the anniversary of Mexico’s victory over the French expeditionary force at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. The date has become synonymous with the celebration of Mexican culture and of victory over aggressors.

Let the celebrations commence! El Pastor Stoney, El Pastor Soho and Casa & Plaza Pastor, will each have a trompo-shaped piñata, ready to be whacked open in the evening. Participation encouraged.

For one day only, the Pastors will also have a special on the drinks menu; ‘Uno, Dos, Tres!’. This involves a trio of El Jimador Tequila, ‘verdita’ – a mix of pineapple juice, coriander, mint and jalapeño – and El Pastor x Two Tribes Pale Ale. Sip the tequila, then the verdita and follow with a sip of beer. Repeat as quickly as you like. There will be DJs playing at EP Soho and Plaza Pastor.

As part of Cinco de Mayo festivities, Taco Party by El Pastor is launching a new Mexican feast menu with Dishpatch. The finish-at-home set menu is centred around EP Soho’s Spiced Duck sharer with orange salsa and fresh corn tortillas, and includes a selection of starters, sides and a dessert – many of which are making a debut on the Taco Party menu.

El Pastor’s seabass ceviche will be available for the first time within this Taco Party menu. Sustainably sourced seabass is marinated in lime juice, coriander and serrano chillies, before mixing through with tomato, red onion, cucumber and avocado. It’s zingy with a bit of a kick.

The Spiced Duck Sharer is usually available at El Pastor Soho only and was created as a nod to nearby China Town; it’s a riff on Chinese crispy duck pancakes.

For El Pastor’s take on the classic, Gressingham duck is rubbed in a blend of Mexican chillies, oregano, garlic and salt, before being slow braised in duck fat. It comes with an orange salsa, spring onions, a Radish & Chilli salad, and salsa La Maya (the pineapple one).

Taco Party’s Spiced Duck Set Menu is for two people at £65 and includes:

~ Guacamole & Totopos ~
~ Seabass Ceviche ~
~ Spiced Duck with Orange Salsa & Fresh Corn Tortillas ~
~ Esquites ~
~ Chocolate & Mole Tart ~

There are limited Spiced Duck set menus available each week, so get in quick. The first delivery slot will be 5th May. Order now on Dishpatch: https://tinyurl.com/47337ht7

The Short Rib Sharer and Sea Bream Sharer, with as many add-ons as you like, are also still available: https://www.dishpatch.co.uk/feasts/mexican-taco-feast
