Two Drops, a neighbourhood bar and sister to The Drop will open at Battersea Power Station on Friday 26th April

Two Drops will build on the casual offering served at The Drop, a neighbourhood bar serving wines, beers, baps and co., within the Victorian stone arches of Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross.

The humble cheese toastie will take pride of place on the menu, whether as a bar snack, moreish lunch, or speedy evening meal. Generously buttered sourdough slices will be filled with Jurarégal – a cheese made from raw cow’s milk in the Franche-Comté region of eastern France – and toasted until golden. At launch, toastie fillings will include salt beef, pickled gherkin & horseradish; smoked haddock & English mustard; and marmite & shallot. Two Drops will also have a revolving special toastie, designed in collaboration with the team’s favourite chefs, brands, or producers.

Other dishes will include a seasonal soup or salad, a board of excellent British cheeses, sides dishes of roasted herby potatoes, and crispy chicken goujons with a chipotle sweet chilli sauce. Obligatory bar snacks, including scampi fries, will also be available at all times. Following his central inspiration, Executive Chef Marvin Jones has even created a riff on the toastie for dessert, oozing with dulce de leche, caramelised banana and hazelnut.

To drink, Two Drops will be pouring pints on tap: Guinness, Estrella Galicia lager and a regularly changing IPA offering. A considered list of wines will be available by the glass or bottle, and the cocktail list will focus on classic serves made perfectly, including an espresso martini, which will be made with the traditional Italian espresso that will be served throughout the day.

Crispin Somerville, MD of The Drop, Quo Vadis and El Pastor, says: “In Two Drops, we are creating a cosy and welcoming bolthole, where we’ve focused on all the details to make hunkering down here, in day or night time, hungry, thirsty, or both, an absolute delight.”

The design for Two Drops, led by Harts Creative, is inspired by nostalgia for a time when a bar sat at the heart of its neighbourhood. Guests can expect an intimate and relaxed environment with warm electric lighting, timber panelled walls, and a collection of vintage bottles from the 1920s – 1990s alongside a bust of Dionysus the God of Wine, Ritual Madness and Festivity.

Two Drops will have 63 covers in total. Inside will be a long bar with stools, high tables of 8 designed to be shared, a drinking shelf to stand at, and a comfortable reception area with wingback chairs will offer refuge for those looking to rest weary feet. Outside will be a sheltered riverside terrace, seating 20, for guests to enjoy an al fresco aperitif in the dappled sunshine.

Located in Circus West Village next to the Grade II* listed Power Station, Two Drops will be the second Harts Group offering to launch at Battersea Power Station alongside El Pastor in May 2024.
